Dr. Takao Ichiko

Admitted to the Postgraduate Course of the University of Tokyo (: Institute of Space and Aeronautical Science, Computer Graphics Research & Developments); graduated from the same, taking the Master of Engineering and the Doctor of Engineering degrees. Academic research on computer aided systems in a real-time manner and also interactive interface in CG. Worked in NEC Corporation and had since been in the same company(: Computer Technology Division, Central Research Laboratories and so on); retired from the same, joining the Institute for New Generation Computer Technology. Cooperative R&D with American and European specialists for better cost performance computer systems (system hardware & OS). The cooperation made rapid international progress in Japan, USA, and Europe. Projects on LSI devices and systems design R&D, e.g. multi-components network computing, human interface, design methodology/design tradeoffs and so on. R&D in these large scale projects were conducted on a widespread range of LSI devices to systems design including their design methodology and tools in cooperation with powerful semiconductor device/computer makers and innovative research laboratories/universities. Furthermore an integrated system was also extended. Basic research and its applications on knowledge information processing targeted towards the information society, including the related impacts analysis research and feasibility studies. This enables us to more directly practice intelligent processing as compared with the conventional schemes and processes. The situation there is also coincidental with the current personal to social computing in highly intelligent communities on networks. Received an official appointment of National University in Yamagata, and had since been in the same university: Computer and Electronic Media R&D in Education, including advanced educational environment research, Software Engineering R&D for software productivity and intelligent design environments based on semantic forms and also design verification. Moreover, newly developed systems design process initiated upper software for higher functionality. The regarding R&D for a more feasible solution have been conducted to articulate upper to lower software strategies beyond its traditions: e.g. compact mapping processes and contexts, finally up to higher quality software different from the conventional software accompanied with hardware constraints (software dominated). Multidisciplinary R&D on electronic media introducible environments into higher educational situations and on real-site case studies for pedagogical methods and electronic media materials application for internationally accredited engineering education in undergraduate and postgraduate. Practical applications for cost effective educational environments and feasible verifications included evolutionary R&D, at the same time also pedagogical analyses based on multimedia quantitative data and fundamental practices for newly cooperative learning with highly structured network environments; i.e. distance education and learning, next generation web platforms etc. Review on accomplishments and publications (in cooperation with USA and European professionals). Int'l collaborative work on multimedia materials in higher education. Participated in volunteer work on European professional prestigious award. Related affiliations: Wikinomics in Canada, IEEE Technical Program Committee TPC, ASEE (American Society for Engineering Education) professional online, ACM, BBW and so on.
