I’m pleased to present you with the May-June 2017 issue of the Journal of Global Issues & Solutions.

This issue’s Page One Feature Paper is in the sphere of Economics, in the sub-category of IMF Policy in the Developing World. “The Sudan and the IMF 2013-2016: IMF-Induced Policies Protected by Sheer Force”, by Professor Ali Abdalla Ali of Omdurman Ahlia University in the Sudan exposes the consequences of IMF “assistance” to developing nations. Professor Ali states that “As long as Sudan is under the umbrella of the IMF (13 Annual Monitored Programmes) and as long as the policy fundamentals are not taken care of by the Sudanese policy-makers, the unhealthy state of the economy shall persist and the welfare of the ordinary Sudanese will continue to deteriorate precipitating discontent, apathy and impoverishment. The result shall be social and political upheaval.” Will this upheaval in the Sudan and other IMF “assisted” nations lead to even more migration into Europe? Is that possibility a secondary goal of IMF policy, a la Richard Coudenhove- Kalergi’s so-called “Practical Idealism” ? (In his book “Practical Idealism”  Coudenhove-Kalergi explains that the citizens of the future ‘United States of Europe’ will not be the people of the Old Continent, but a new mixed breed, the products of thorough and widespread miscegenation. He states that the peoples of Europe should interbreed with Asians and other non-White races, to create a multiracial population, with not clear sense of tradition or identity and therefore easily controlled by the ruling elite [Who are???].  This is an extremely important paper for anyone and everyone who is concerned with the overwhelming influx of immigrants into the European nations, and begs the question “Why aren’t these suffering nations being assisted in such a way that they can care for their citizens and thus eliminate the need for their citizens to migrate to other nations?”

Our following paper moves on to the field of Medicine, specifically Psychiatry, as Dr. Bernhard J. Mitterauer, Director of the Voltronics-Institute for Basic Research, Psychopathology and Brain Philosophy and Professor Emeritus of Neuropsychiatry at the University of Salzburg in Wals, Austria, presents his paper “Non-Feasible Intentional Programs in Major Depressive Disorder: Possible Role of Personality Structure.”  Dr. Mitterauer posits that “If a person with high aspirations is unable to realize an intentional program and is lacking a subjective explanation for this, a stress situation is generated. A feeling of impotence can activate a depressive episode caused by imbalances in tripartite synapses and dysregulations in the glial networks leading to impairments in action and cognition.” Dr. Mitterauer continues on to offer a fascinating analysis and curative treatment for this “high aspiration” depression.

Following, in the world of Science & Technology, in the special category of Nuclear Safety, Dr.rer.nat., Dr.med.h.c. Randolph Riemschneider, Professor at UFSM in Brazil and Emeritus Professor at the Free University of Berlin and Executive Vice Director of the BWW Society and the Institute for Positive Global Solutions, brings us his paper “The Neglected Th-NPPs: Insight Into Thorium (Th) Chemistry.”  As far back as 1947, Dr. Riemschneider had warned against a so-called peaceful exploitation of the MCA-susceptible Uranium-fueled nuclear energy in essays and papers, stating that "the earth itself is the greatest power plant on earth,” and advocating geothermal energy instead. Unfortunately his warnings went unheeded and the world witnessed the accidents in Chernobyl in 1986 and in Fukushima in 2011. As another alternative to Uranium-fuelled power plants, Dr. Riemschneider stresses the safety advantages of Thorium liquid salt reactors. Although fairly technical, this academic paper will be of great interest to scientific researchers as well as the general reader.

This issue’s closing paper features Part VI of a special presentation in the topic area of Education: Life & Consciousness, by Naturalistic Philosopher Iain Mr. Iain Kirkaldy-Willis of Spain’s Canary Islands; “The Nature of Thought” is an on-going series of visual presentations. The author explains that “the use of image/text presentations has been chosen as a stimulating, provocative and inspiring format for consciousness raising.  It is an approach that has evolved over the years from a wide variety of applications – as a gardener in Finland, piecing together a holistic agricultural approach to an adult educational community’s land and then making that part of that Folk High School’s curriculum – in use with villagers in the foothills of N. India, as a tool for awareness, healing and empowerment, in the face of socio-environmental collapse – in the designing of courses to meet adult needs for healing and change in the face of different kinds of personal crisis.” Excellent graphics and bright imagery vividly highlight this fascinating visual presentation.
