New Year’s Day, 2017

As I wish you a Creative and Innovative New Year, I’m pleased to present the January-February 2017 issue of the Journal of Global Issues & Solutions.

This issue’s Page One Feature Paper is in the realm of Culture, specifically Marxist Leninism in the early 21st Century. Dr. Julio A. Gonzalo of  Escuela Politécnica Superior, of the Universidad San Pablo CEU in Madrid, Spain addresses the threats of the current incarnation of Bolshevism in his paper “The Battle with Marxism Leninism in America

After Fidel Castro’s Death.”

Our following paper also addresses the subject area of Culture, with an emphasis on World Population and the validity of future estimates thereof.  “Data and Provisions of World Population” was researched and written by Dr. Manuel Alfonseca of Escuela Politécnica Superior, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Francisco Tomás y Valiente, in Madrid, Spain. In this paper the author/researcher reviews the history of world population projections from the time of Edmond Halley (1656-1742) on through to recent projections put forth by the Club of Rome in the 1970s and the UN in 2012. Is it possible that we are being presented with alarmist data in order to bring forth radical population manipulations? Dr. Alfonseca discusses this possibility based on verified and non-politicized population and food supply projections.

Following, in the field of Medicine: Psychiatry, “Suicide in Schizophrenia: Considerations on Communication Pathology”  is presented by Bernhard J. Mitterauer, MD, Prof. emeritus of the University of Salzburg and currently Director of the Volitronics-Institute for Basic Research in Wals, Austria. In this paper Dr. Mitterauer hypothesizes that “the brain functions of patients with schizophrenia are generalized because of imbalances in tripartite synapses (glial-neuronal synaptic units). Subjectively, the patient exists in an absolute timeless universe.” Dr. Mitterauer proceeds to present results of recent research and the findings thereof. Very interesting reading for the medical professional and layperson alike.

And in this issue’s closing paper: “What science-in-the-lab has to say about DNA is, by its own reckoning, but 5% of the story! So what about the rest! Since DNA is very much about who we are, it would be good if we knew.” So states the opening lines of Part IV of a special presentation in the topic area of Education: Life & Consciousness, by Naturalistic Philosopher Iain Mr. Iain Kirkaldy-Willis of Spain’s Canary Islands; “The Nature of Thought” is an on-going series of visual presentations. The author explains that “the use of image/text presentations has been chosen as a stimulating, provocative and inspiring format for consciousness raising.  It is an approach that has evolved over the years from a wide variety of applications – as a gardener in Finland, piecing together a holistic agricultural approach to an adult educational community’s land and then making that part of that Folk High School’s curriculum – in use with villagers in the foothills of N. India, as a tool for awareness, healing and empowerment, in the face of socio-environmental collapse – in the designing of courses to meet adult needs for healing and change in the face of different kinds of personal crisis.” Excellent graphics and bright imagery vividly highlight this fascinating visual presentation.
